Dear Parents and Guardians,

Exciting news! On April 25th -27th, 2019, our band will travel to New Glasgow, Nova Scotia to participate in the 81st Annual New Glasgow Musical Festival.

Throughout this Festival-Tour, students will have the opportunity to embark on engaging experiences such as: performing at local schools; attending a faculty concert by the St. Francis Xavier University Music Department; attending a workshop put on by Paul Tynan; and performing for and be adjudicated by highly qualified musicians.  They will also participate in other activities such as shopping, bowling and St. Francis Xavier University campus tour.

It is strongly recommended that your son/daughter partake in this band Festival-Tour. This experience will provide the band, as a group and students, as individuals with goals to achieve and pride in being a member of the Bluefield High School band.

The cost for this trip is anticipated to be approximately $450.00 per student. This amount

could vary depending on participation, list of activities agreed upon and fundraising efforts.  Payments can be made in three increments:

  1. First (non-refundable) payment of $100.00 due no later than Wednesday, October 31st, 2018.
  2. Second payment of $150.00 due Monday, January 21st, 2019.
  3. Final payment of balance owing, if applicable, due Monday, February 25th, 2019.

** If students work hard throughout fundraising activities (Ex: Christmas Craft Fair ~ November 2 and 3, 2018 and The Gift Card Tree Raffle), it is possible for students to pay a portion of the fees through their fundraising efforts.

** Cash or check are accepted. Please make checks payable to “Bluefield High School” and include the student’s name in the subject/memo field.

If you have questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you in advance for your support of this developmental opportunity and timely payments.

Sincerely,

Christine Blanchard
